Expand & Explore: A Journey to Peru with the Hanger Hall Community

Hanger Hall is excited to continue its partnership with True Nature Travels with the 4th Annual Expand and Explore Program. This year we are returning to Peru for the 2027 summer!  This travel experience will provide students the chance to broaden their horizons and see part of the world that many have never seen before.  Guided by the experienced staff of True Nature Travels and in line with Hanger Hall’s motto of challenge by choice, students will expand their horizons and explore new lands. Not only will this trip help enhance students’ world language skills, but they will also have the opportunity to immerse themselves in Peruvian culture as well as participate in service learning activities while there.  Students will likely identify new interests and also make new/fortify friendships. For parents who are also able to attend, we see this as a truly unique opportunity for you to strengthen your relationship with your child while also expanding your own life experience.

Students will have the option to be accompanied by a parent (additional parents can join based on available space). In addition, a Hanger Hall faculty member will also accompany the group (exact number of chaperones will be determined by the number of students who register.)

Accommodations

True Nature Education has searched long and hard throughout Peru to find unique, ecologically friendly, and inspiring accommodations for our guests. The center is a beautiful nature-inspired retreat center in the Sacred Valley of Peru. The name of the center means “Loving Heart” in Quechua, the very beautiful and poetic language of the Incas. There is a heartfelt mission to create a nurturing environment for healing, learning, regeneration, and expansion. Each villa at the center reflects the Andean culture of the Sacred Valley and is mindfully created using local and natural materials. The entire center embodies the kindness, love, and wholeness that permeate this magical place. Private rooms are occasionally available for an extra fee on a first-come, first-served basis.  Three delicious homemade meals are included each day.

PLEASE NOTE: This trip in Peru takes place in high elevations. The location where we are based is close to 10,000 ft in elevation. For this trip, it is recommended that participants are in good to excellent physical condition. We will be working and hiking in this environment and it will be important to us that all participants are aware of the conditions so they can feel as comfortable as possible. With this, we will all be acclimating to the elevation and conditions together, taking the first couple of days slowly. We will also support acclimation with special foods, teas, and by taking part in various exercises.

Our international programs are opportunities to put into practice the values and mission of True Nature which include service, leadership, adventure, and mindfulness. If you have an interest in the program, have an adventurous spirit, a desire to experience a different culture and a willingness to participate in group activities then you are welcome to join our programs.

Travel Insurance

We cannot emphasize more the importance of travel insurance. As we all know, especially as travelers, “life happens.” Whether it’s family, work, mother nature, or a change of heart, it is important to be prepared in case you need to unexpectedly change your travel plans. Often for less than $150, you can purchase a travel insurance policy and be protected in the event that you need to make a change or need to be covered financially prior to or during your trip.

We have partnered with Trawick International (available for U.S. Residents only). Read more about their policies here. We encourage you to research the insurance company and policy that best meets your needs.
