ACCOMMODATIONS

This quaint 200 year old farmhouse is strategically located and is an attractive destination for many reasons. The property has a 360 degree view of the rolling hills and city of Umbria, making it a perfect “station” to head out from on any number of itineraries. The center itself is imbued with fresco walls, intoxicating landscapes, organic farm, pool and lounging area, and beautiful group space. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are prepared daily and include healthy vegetarian options. The food is organic when available and prepared with nourishing ingredients.

Shared accommodations are 2 to 4 people of the same gender sharing a room with a shared bathroom. Private rooms are occasionally available for an extra fee on a first-come, first-serve basis.

SAMPLE ITINERARY*

DAY 1

DAY 4

Day in Perugia. Visit this ancient but young university city and learn about it’s extraordinary history and cutlure. The group will be divided into two groups. While the first will explore this majestic and vibrant medieval center with an urban hike the second group will be exploring the green hills surrounding the city by electric bicycle. The two groups will then switch activities.

DAY 5

Truffle Hunting Day​. Hike through woods with local truffle expert and professional dog trainer Andrea and his infallible four-legged companions. Search for truffles and learn about them through a sensory experience but also learn about canine nature. Following this experience, we will visit a dogs home​ and lend our hands in an unforgettable experience.

DAY 6

Cortona Day​. Urban hike through the medieval hilltop town of Cortona to reach the very top and overlook the valley. Visit the first monastery to be built by Saint Francis into the rock of the mountain and talk with friars about their life and work. Visit a local olive mill and learn about the olive oil making process and how it has changed throughout the ages. Return to Il Terzo di Danciano learn to make Pizza​ from Leo.

CANCELLATION

• Initial deposits and the $35 registration fee are non-refundable and non-transferable
• 50% of payments are refundable up to 90 days before program excluding initial deposit and the $35 registration fee
• 89 days prior to a program, tuition is non-refundable and non-transferable
• Full tuition is refunded if the trip is canceled due to low enrollment. The $35 registration fee is not refundable
• True Nature is not responsible for any loss incurred due to currency conversion rates

NSLS ALUMNI AND NON-NSLS MEMBERS

NSLS Alumni and Non-NSLS Members are also welcome on the trip. If you or someone you know would like to join us please let us know.
Non-members will have to pay the full tuition price and also agree to the True Nature / Code of Conduct for the trip. Alumni are eligible for the discount.

IS THIS PROGRAM FOR ME?

While the programs are open to all ages, most of the people are of college age and traveling abroad for the first time. Our international programs are opportunities to put into practice the values and mission of True Nature which include service, leadership, adventure, and mindfulness. If you have an interest in the program, have an adventurous spirit, a desire to experience a different culture and a willingness to participate in group activities then you are welcome to join our programs.

GETTING THERE

You will be booking your flights for the Florence International Airport (FLR). True Nature Education has a Travel Agent partner that will be happy to help you book your flights; their contact info and details can be found below. The recommended flight arrival and departure windows are listed in the Confirmation letter that you will receive upon signing up. Before booking tickets please contact us to be sure group minimums have been reached.
From the airport, we will organize one group transport for all participants.

We cannot emphasize more the importance of travel insurance. As we all know, especially as travelers, “life happens.” Whether it’s family, work, mother nature, or a change of heart, it is important to be prepared in case you need to unexpectedly change your travel plans. Often for less than $100, you can purchase a travel insurance policy and be protected in the event that you need to make a change or need to be covered financially prior to or during your trip. 

We have partnered with two insurance companies: Trawick International and CSA Travel Insurance (available for U.S. Residents only). For Non-U.S. Residents this policy with Trawick insurance is available: Safe Travels Multi-National.

There is no cancellation fee if you transfer to another trip or put your deposit ($350 less the $35 non-refundable registration fee) on hold for a future trip until the final payment date.*
