Mindfulness and True Nature Education
Mindfulness is a integral part of True Nature Education. We have found by subtly utilizing mindfulness in our programs our participants are able to have a more memorable, rewarding, and profound experience while traveling with us. Why is this? Because when we are mindful we are able to experience the moment more fully, and therefore can truly enjoy the fruits of our life. These “fruits” are especially rich and inspiring are especially rich and inspiring when traveling, on retreat, and learning new things, in a new place. Here is more about “What is Mindfulness.”
What is Mindfulness?
Mindfulness is a holistic approach that involves bringing one’s full awareness to the present moment – accepting and opening to it, without getting caught up in the elaborative thoughts or emotional reactions that may arise. Mindfulness techniques are used to develop an awareness of passing events in the mind, rather than identifying with them or being drawn intho these thoughts as necessarily true reflections of reality. When we are mindful we are less entangled in judging or rejecting what is happening in the present. By cultivating a moment-to-moment awareness, individuals begin to recognize the patterns in their thoughts, emotions and interactions with others.
Consistent and reliable scientific research is demonstrating that mindfulness is effective in reducing medical and psychological symptoms, including chronic illness or pain, stress, high blood pressure, GI stress, skin disorders, fibromyalgia, depression, anxiety, fatigue and sleep disturbances.
Joshua Canter, True Nature’s Founder and Director, has been practicing mindfulness since 2002 and spent several years developing training in this area while living traveling in Asia, India, and teaching in Costa Rica at True Nature Education. Through his training and practice he has been able to share his love and passion for mindfulness with participants from all over the world, along with training True Nature’s staff in the principals of mindful leadership.
