This year we are headed to Iceland for a week of adventure, culture, and leadership in one of the world’s most sought-after destinations.
You are invited to join us for a 2019 trip to our newest destination, Iceland! In Iceland’s second largest city and “capital of the north,” Akureyri is a great base for touring the rugged northern coastline. Activities will include hiking in some of the local fjords and spectacular cliffs, while marveling at the rich birdlife. You will have the opportunity to venture to volcanic lava fields and experience one of Iceland’s most spectacular waterfalls, Goðafoss. We will follow the Humpback and Blue whales by boat on a whale watching tour and have a relaxing soak afterward, in hot tubs on the scenic beach nearby. You will also be able to visit the Blue Lagoon, a geothermal spa and one of the 25 wonders of the world. In early summer, the sight of the sun on the horizon at midnight is like no other. Experience the unique culture and share once-in-a-lifetime experiences with fellow travelers who will soon become friends for life.
Every day of your trip will be filled with incredible opportunities to explore the local culture and immerse yourself in outdoor adventures. There will also be opportunities to be of service to the local community. Between the adventures, there will be time to learn more about what it means to be an international student leader and to explore and learn more about yourself. TESTIMONIALS FROM PAST TRUE NATURE/SOCIETY TRIPS
This week was an excellent balance of work and play. I loved that I was able to give back to both the community and the environment. I loved the environmental sustainability aspect and feel that I learned a lot that I can bring back to my own country and habits. I wasn’t expecting so much sightseeing and learning of the country and the people and culture, but I loved this aspect so much. I expected very little and came into the trip very unaware of what was going to be in store, but I felt that that uncertainty made the trip that much more impactful and fulfilling. It was an education, eye-opening, heart-opening, soul-searching, beautiful experience.
This trip was amazing! I got so much more than what I was expecting. The service work was absolutely humbling and put many things in perspective. The group I was in was amazing and I feel like we all bonded as a family. Thank you for this opportunity!
